Our November meeting is all about Adobe MAX 2017: The Creativity Conference. KCDesignCore will be well represented at this year's event (including one of our own presenting at MAX) and we're bringing you our eyewitness report, including new product launches, important software updates, vendors that impressed us, tips and tricks we learned, what the future looks like -- and, inevitably, what we saw at Sneaks this year that scared us (Last year, it was this). Hope to see you there!

You MUST register on Eventbrite to attend - https://www.eventbrite.com/e/coding-cocktails-november-tickets-37230099229?aff=meetup

Session Topic: Cocktail Camp

***Please note the extended hours starting at 4pm through 9pm***

In our final session of the year, we set you up in a microenvironment that mimics a software development team in the wild. Working together with a mentor acting as the 'team lead' your team of two or three will work to build a web site from scratch using whatever tools you feel comfortable using. Alternatively, you can also work towards making a contribution to an open source project to boost your code portfolio! Don't worry about making your own team; we'll pair you up with other participants as you arrive, or you can let us know if you want to work with another participant you know.

Do you find hackathons intimidating or worry you don't have the skills to participate? Come join our micro-hackathon where we'll support you the entire way if you feel overwhelmed or get stuck! Don't worry, ours only lasts for 5 hours instead of the traditional 24 - you get your beauty sleep too!

Note: As a special offering, since this is our last session of the year, we are extending the hours from 4-9 p.m. to give you more time to work on your team project and to let everyone show off their great work. We will also serve the traditional programmer dinner of pizza, along with our usual cocktails. There will be lots of guidance and support for those with no coding experience so come join the fun! No coding experience necessary (we mean that!)

• Wifi-enabled laptop is required (don't have one? Borrow one of ours)

• Must be at least 21 to attend

• Cocktails, non-alcoholic beverages, and dinner served

• Please familiarize yourself with Kansas City Women in Technology's Code of Conduct.

Do you need financial assistance to attend? View codingandcocktails.kcwomenintech.org/financialaid for more information.

If you are unable to attend, you must cancel 48 hours prior to the event to receive a refund!
